Cute Kid Mini Stories...

A couple of nights ago we were all sitting around the table after dinner doing "Bible Time". After Jeff had finished reading the story for the night we were taking our turns praying and saying what we were all thankful for. When it came to Noah's turn he prayed, "Dear Jesus, thank you for my Daddy. Amen." Then he quickly added, "And thank you that he is silly. Amen."

Then the next night we were going over a Bible Verse that we've been memorizing. Sydney rattled it off with ease and then Noah gave it a try. He did really well for the first line but then got caught up on the second one. So rather than try and remember it he said, "I know another memory verse..." and went on to make up his own about how we need to love our family and friends and people. It was so cute and funny that he thought he could just make up his own Bible verse. It's hard to explain to a three year old that you can't add to the Word of God. I guess we'll have to work on that.

Caleb hit the two month mark this past Thursday. I can't believe how fast the time has gone! He's growing well, although WAY smaller still than his brothers, much more on par with Sydney. To give you an idea, Noah was 16lbs, 2ozs and 24 1/4 inches at his 2-month checkup; Luke was 16lbs, 4ozs and 25 inches at his 2-month checkup; Sydney was 13lbs, 0ozs and 23 inches and her 2-month checkup; Caleb is 13lbs, 2ozs and 22 7/8inches. He's made up the extra pound that he was behind Syd at birth and is steadily putting on weight, but still he doesn't even come close to comparing with Luke or Noah. We were looking at a few old pictures of Noah today and I shock at how HUGE he was. Such a butterball. Luke on the other hand weighed more but had length/height that helped him not look quite as fat. Yes, fat, not chubby but fat.

Caleb started laughing and cooing just over a week ago now and the smiles are coming much easier and quicker now, which I love. It's so cute to watch a baby smile but so hard to catch on camera. I tried a couple of time but Caleb's smile looks more like a wide open mouth when in freeze frame rather than motion so I have yet to get a real smiling picture.

About a month ago I borrowed some books on CD from the library for the kids. Syd loved listening to them and has now memorized them. Today she brought me the book and "read" it too me. It's amazing her ability to memorize things, she knew exactly the words, in the correct order and which page they were on but it was pretty obvious that it was from memory rather than reading. Oh, well, at least she's enjoying books and wants to read. She's been doing pretty good at reading very simple things and I love watching her find the joy in knowing what things say and figuring it out for herself.

Luke is still Luke. He's a giant that at one moment is being a complete bully and is way too stubborn and then the next he's loving on his little brother and "reading" him books and giving him hugs and kisses. Yesterday he was in the kitchen with Syd when she did something that he didn't like when he growled at her. It sounded like a dog trying to scare of something, just a deep, guttural growl.

Well, the baby is ready to eat and is screaming for attention so that's the end of the cute kids for now.
