Most people have a Christmas Tree, not a Thanksgiving Tree, but we have both. Okay, our Thanksgiving Tree is a little different from our Christmas Tree, well, extremely different, but they both have the word tree in them and they both have meaning, so they're somewhat similar too.We decided this year that we wanted to start a new tradition in our family, one that would help us to remember what today is all about - being thankful for what we have been blessed with. The kids absolutely love doing crafts so we thought this would be perfect for them. We drew the outline of a bare tree and then cut leaves out of construction paper onto which we drew pictures of what we were thankful for. Sydney is a true artist and absolutely loved coloring and detailing her pictures, Jeff's were pretty good too, my artistic abilities are definitely not my strong point and well, Noah still has a little ways to go in his fine tuning of artistic ability. But it was a ton of fun and the outcome is priceless. It's such a great reminder to be thankful
for the little things as well as the big things. Sydney was thankful for animals, especially giraffes, family and friends (she was thankful for a lot more but spent too much time on each picture that all the leaves were gone before she could make any more). Noah was thankful for God, Jesus, Daddy like 5 times over (we had to keep encouraging him to think of different things), and butterflies, food, animals and birds (he's not as detail oriented so the pictures went a little faster for him). Other things our family is thankful for include: our home, the bible, God, music, laughter, coffee (okay, maybe just mommy and daddy on this one), America, Grandmas and Grandpas, bed & sleep (another mommy and daddy one), hugs and kisses, my husband (hmmm, I wonder who drew that one???) and the beach. It was a super fun activity and one that I hope we can continue on for many years. So, what would be on your Thanksgiving Tree this year?
