I was just brushing Syd's hair after her bath while sitting on her bed before going to sleep and we were hearing Jeff in his room playing his guitar and singing. Syd asked what he was doing and I explained that he was having his quiet time with God. She asked what that was and I told her it was a time where Daddy worshiped God in music by singing songs about how much he love God and stuff and then Daddy prays and reads his bible. She went on to tell me that she wanted to have her quiet time with God too.
She proceeded to sing a song she learned in Sunday School "Who is watching over us, night and day, sleep and play, who is watching over us, God is watching" (sung to London Bridges falling down). Then she said that she was going to pray and the cutest little prayer came out for Luke and Noah to not be sick anymore (they've had a cold for a while) and that she'd have a good sleep and good day tomorrow. Next she went on a short search for her little bible so she could read her bible too. She totally can't read it and it has no pictures but she wanted it to read in bed so who was I to stop her from having her "quiet time with God".
It was one of those moments that I'm gonna treasure for a long time, such sweet innocence and love for God and maybe just a bit of wanting to be like her Daddy, but when that's copying him and his love for God it's definitely not a bad thing.
