Our Successful Garage Sale Adventure...

On Friday we pulled out the classified section of the paper and went searching for the garage sale ads. We found a few and made a plan and then early Saturday morning packed the kids into the van and started off on our adventure. The first one we went to was a complete loss, absolutely nothing for us, but the second one, we hit the jackpot. It was a "parents of multiples" club so there was tons of kids stuff. We were so excited with everything they had there. I sorta wish that we had gone there first because there were a few things that I saw people walking out with that I would have loved, but we found some great stuff. We'd been looking at buying a plastic kids table for Sydney, and new they were running around $35 plus shipping because we couldn't actually find them in any store, only on the net, but we found one at the garage sale for $10. Of course it's not brand new, but well, within the first 5 minutes of Sydney having crayons around it, she had made more marks on it than the previous owners. We also found a car seat for when Noah outgrows his (which will be a lot sooner than I realized) for only $10 and it's really nice. It's almost the same as the one Sydney has now, actually it's the next step up, so Sydney will graduate to it and Noah will get Syd's. After washing it down, it actually turned out to be cleaner and in better condition than Sydney current one. We also found a super cute "Little Peoples" garage, a doll house (we need all the furniture and people still), and a bunch of other little toys and books and stuff. Overall it was very successful and a great first adventure in to garage sale-ing. We had thought that it would be something that we'd do all the time, but well, after how much we spent at just one, we decided that we'll just be watching for more big kids sales and not going to every little one we find every week. Our house and our budget is already being stretched to the limit with all the toys, so I think we'll have to take it easy for a while.
