The Fun Of Owning A Home...
So today was a "fun" day. We got to buy a new fridge. Why is it that every time your just about to get some "exciting" stuff for your house (like floors and a shed so the extra room you have can be used again) something else dies and puts of the "exciting" purchase? Is it just us or does that happen to most people? Jeff noticed strange noise coming from the fridge this morning when he got up with Sydney and by 11am when I checked on it, it was no longer cooling. Just over a month ago we had to get the starter replaced and now it was making a similar, but different noise. In other words, not the starter again. So we decided rather than spend another $150 or more on repairs that we'd go buy a new fridge so that we weren't in the same place next month. We went to Sears first, and they had a really nice fridge, but the soonest we could get it would be Monday, and well, what would we do until then. So we headed over to Brandsmart USA (ghetto shopping at its finest) and found another really nice one for almost half the price. Sure, it wasn't a Kenmore like the Sears one, but it's the cheaper brother (still of Whirlpool who makes both models). We were also able to get an icemaker for free. Sure we had to install the icemaker and that adds just a small amount of tension to Jeff and my relationship, but you can't beat free. So we brought home our nice, new white fridge and set at putting the ice maker in and changing the way the doors swing (so that it would be easier to access from the kitchen rather than the dining room like it would have been if we hadn't switched them). My job at switching the way the doors swing was changing the handles on the doors. I thought I was doing great until we were finish (or so I thought) and noticed that they doors had a hard time opening because something was blocking them. Well, it turns out I put the freezer handle on upside down. A good laugh followed and Jeff kindly fixed my error without mocking me too much. So we now that this beautiful new fridge (if you can call a plain white fridge beautiful) in our kitchen and a decent looking, but not working, fridge sitting out on our lawn waiting to see who will come pick it up first - someone from the neighborhood like usual or if it will make it until Monday when the big garbage guys come. My money is on a neighbor.

Wow - you guys are amazing - We didn't even know one could turn a fridge door around! But we do know all about how money-hungry homes are ... so glad you found a model at a good price :)
Have a nice day, lots of luv, lee
Its still good to know my gril can use a screw driver!!!!(even if you did get my eyesight) Anyway handles that can be confused to fit upside down must be designed wrong!Dad
Hey Charlene!
Thanks for the interesting stories on married life & parenting! This is definitely helping me to learn about my future parenting experiences and I have been taking copious notes!
We just had our townhouse tented for termites...that was an adventure!
Hehe - hope all is well...

Well, I was right about the neighbor getting the fridge before the garbage man. Less than an hour later the fridge was already gone. I looked out the window and there was no fridge standing at the edge of the road.
