African Safari Fun...

Saturday morning Sydney came with Jeff into the bedroom to wake me up. She brought a couple of toys with her from her Noah's Ark play set. They just happened to be a couple of Lions. It gave me this great idea, I've been wanting to go check out the Lion County Safari thing that's only about 30 minutes from our place and everyone here has been telling me that you have to go in the Winter or something because when it's cold the animals move around more and aren't just lying around all day. So, beening one of the colder days we've had since we moved here, we decided to check the place out. It was so awesome and so much more than we thought it would be. Basically you drive around this African Safari thing which is a bunch of huge areas all caged in that you drive through that are divided and designed like different areas of the world (well, of Africa basically). It was so cool. They had a ton of animals. Even Jeff whose been to a bunch of real African Safari things in Africa (of all places) thought it was cool and hadn't seen some or so many of the animals up so close. Sydney had a ton of fun also. Although, the fact that I was just holding her in my lap while we took the 45 minute or so drive through the park she often would forget about looking at the animals and want to start playing with everything possible in her reach. It got a little crazy a couple times, but usually she did great and had a ton of fun watching the animals. One major highlight was when we got to see a male and female lion fight. It was pretty cool. There were tons of other great moments, but well, it'll take to long to describe them all. After the drive through part you get to this real cool, somewhat childish park area. You park your car and then get to walk through a bunch of different areas. They had a Farris Wheel, Carrisol, and Dumbo Ride for the kids that were all free. I totally expected that you'd have to pay for it, but no, it was all included. They also had a bunch of different smaller animal displays of birds, monkeys, reptiles and all those types of things. One major highlight of the park part was when we got to go and feed and pet the Giraffes. It was a really cool experience and man, giraffes tounges are sticky and feel really weird. We just had an aboslutely awesome time and decided that with a small kid who gets in free, we'd buy annual tickets. It's a pretty good deal, for the price of two visits you get an annual pass and they take what you paid that day and put it toward your fee, so it works out that now if we only go one more time it pays for it self and the next time would be "free". Also it makes it so that anyone who comes with us gets a pretty good discount. Although, it's not all that cheap to go, to us it's totally worth it. So, if you come down to visit us, be prepared to check this place out. It's an experience you won't forget. And if you're from around here and haven't gone ever or in a long time, one piece of advice, go earlier it's a lot less busy then.
