It's Done........

Well, that's what I've been wanting to title this post for the past couple of weeks, but still, we're just shy of completion. Yesterday was supposed to be the final piece of the puzzle, putting shelves in the linen closet and the door back on, but, well, nothing ever happens quite as planned. After three months we're this close (oh, right, you can't see that my fingers are doing the little "pincher" type thing) to being fully done but no, not there yet. You see, Friday we went out and bought everything we were going to need to finish the bathroom (new shower curtain, towels, bath mat, and a few other accessories, things that needed to be replaced before everything went down but had been put off, and well, a completely new bathroom pretty much demands new everything else) and then put shelves in the closet. After a lot more money than I realized was going to be needed was spent we had everything.

Then came Saturday morning, the chance to put up the shelves... everything was going great until it came time to install the door. We still had all the hardware and everything from before and were just planning on using the same door and well, everything should have worked perfectly. But oh no, not so simple. After realizing that we installed the rail and braces (or whatever you call all the pieces that it slides on) backwards we took it off and tried again. This time it was all going great until we went to close the door. It seemed the closet had magically shrunk. Well, to be more exact, the bottom of the closet had magically shrunk. What we didn't realize is that when the guys who did the rebuild finished the closet they put baseboard around the bottom where there hadn't previously been any. It looks really nice but practically it's just not that, practical. There's no way to fit a closet door properly with it there. So now we're waiting to hear back from the contractor to see if they can get someone out here to fix it or to figure out what we need to do so that I can have a closet door on my linen closet. Right now it doesn't look to bad, actually I kind of like the look of empty shelves, but they can't stay empty forever. Those shelves are just waiting for me to find a few minutes so that I can unpack and put away a couple of boxes of stuff, then it's really not going to look so nice and there are more than a couple sets of little hands who would love the chance to tear into stacks of nicely folded laundry.

So soon, very soon, it will all be done and my house will be back to normal, at least as normal as possible.

And soon, very soon I'll have pictures up of all the changes. And there sure are a lot of changes.
